Huntsville Man Arrested: Police Warn Public To be on Lookout For Illegal Steroid Product

A Huntsville man's been charged with gun and drug charges, plus numerous offences under the Food and Drug Safety Act. The OPP visited a residence on Ravenscliffe Rd. near Rosseau with a search warrant recently. They received word of an illegal steroid internet store. On Friday, several items were seized, including several types of steroids that are either used orally or injected. Also seized were lab equipment, medications, cocaine, cannabis marihuana - and an illegal firearm. Police say it's dangerous to buy any product not produced by an accredited pharmaceutical manufacturer. Anyone who has purchased product through "True Health Labs" is warned not to ingest or inject the product. Call police if you have or see any. The accused will appear in Bracebridge Court Tuesday to answer to the charges.

Highway 11 Northbound Re-opened Following Van Fire Near Fraserburg Road

This afternoon Bracebridge OPP reported a van on fire on Highway 11 in the northbound lane near Fraserburg Road. Traffic was backed up, but the highway lanes are now re-opened. The Bracebridge Fire Department responded and the fire was extinguished. The Fire Department confirms both occupants exited the vehicle safely.

The Long Weekend is Here!

Police will be out in full force beginning today as many begin the trek to cottage country for the Victoria Day weekend. Officers will be looking for aggressive driving, unsafe motor vehicles, and will be taking the usual no tolerance approach for those who choose to drink and drive. A combination of marked cruisers, unmarked cars and motorcycles will be on patrol all weekend long. Meantime, if you're headed over the border in the next two weeks, expect some delays.

Border points will be busy as we celebrate the Victoria Day long weekend here in Canada, while the US Memorial Day weekend goes next weekend.

If you plan to celebrate the long weekend with fireworks, fire officials are urging you to use caution. If you're organizing a neighbourhood or family fireworks display, be sure to follow the directions on the fireworks packaging and keep a water hose or pail of water close by. Fire services are recommending people plan to attend public fireworks instead of putting on their own display.

CSBC Wants You To Be Safe While Boating

North American Safe Boating Awareness Week starts soon. Between May 19^th and May 25^th, the Canadian Safe Boating Council (CSBC) and its partners urge you to keep boating safety a number one priority when out on the water. They are getting their message out before the long weekend to help make sure everybody stays safe. CSBC Board of Directors member Ian Gilson provides the tips for being safe while boating.

Checking Your Tire Pressure Can Save A Lot

As you get ready to hit the road this long weekend you may want check your tire pressure before heading out. The Rubber Association of Canada has launched a national “Be Tire Smart” campaign to encourage you to check your tires often. Communications Manager Antonia Issa says just by checking the pressure you can save a lot on fuel.

Checking tire pressure doesn’t only save fuel. It can save you money as well.

Issa says they found that tires are a grudging purchase for Canadians and therefore, not many people take the precautions to check their tires.

Not only will it save money and fuel, Issa says there environmental benefits as well.
