Superintendent Provides More Information on Grade 7 and 8 Decision Re: Parry Sound High School

Hits

Parents of grades seven and eight students are voicing their disapproval of a school board decision that will see their children attend Parry Sound High School next year. The board made the decision Tuesday night without public consultation as Superintendent of Schools and Program for the Near North District School Board Tim Graves says it's a decision to align with the rest of the district. He says the board believes this will enhance the learning of elementary students is certain areas as those opportunities are unavailable at their current school.

Many parents are concerned about integrating 12-year-olds with 18-year-old in a school setting, but Graves wants to ensure that the grades seven and eights will not be interacting with the older students.

Any parents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the Superintendent or the school board directly.
