The New FM 105.5 Muskoka's Lite Favourites

The Huntsville Novice Hawks rep team were close but didn’t quite nab a win in their season opener at Orillia last night as Orillia edged the Hawks 6-5. Meantime, at home the minor Hawks hosted Orillia last night in three divisions. The Peewee Hawks were the lone winners beating Orillia 11-2, the Tykes lost 11-1 and the Midget team lost 12-2.

It's the start of the season for the Huntsville Hawks Lacrosse Club as they play host to Orillia at the Jack Bionda and Don Lough arenas. It starts with the ceremonial draw from the Oddfellow Lodge Tyke Hawks at 6:00pm. The R & G Construction Peewees will play next at 7:00pm and the Moose Delaney Midget Hawks will finish off the season opener at 8:00pm. Meantime the Moller Insurance Novice and Muskoka Pump Bantams are in Orillia for their games at 7:00pm and 8:00pm.

NOTE: Players from other OWHA teams will need to bring signed Permission to Skate forms to tryouts

Four members of the Muskoka Limberettes provincial team travelled to Ottawa last week to compete in the 2012 Ontario Gymnastics Championship. Fifteen-year-olds Stephanie Hulme and Crystal Marchand and 10-year-olds Madison Hughes and Taylor Milko had qualified earlier in the year. Milko brought home a silver medal in the Uneven Bars competition. Hughes got a 6^th place all around. Marchand won silver on Vault and a gold in Vault and Bars, while Hulme had a terrific meet with a 16^th place finish overall.

If you’re looking to get more involved with local hockey, you might want to head down to the Active Living Centre today. The Huntsville Minor Hockey Association is hosting their AGM. Polices, procedures and last year’s finances will be looked at. It’s also a chance to become part of the board. Meeting starts at 7:00pm.
